Branch Meeting at Slubbers Arms & Mild Crawl

On Monday 23rd May 2011 at 8pm, we will be holding our next Branch Meeting at the Slubbers Arms, Hillhouse, HD1 6HW (map). The Slubbers is now being run by CAMRA member Bill Brogan as a free house, and offers a range of guest & Taylor’s beers. Catch the 19:25 363 First bus from Huddersfield Bus Station.

On Wednesday 25th May 2011 at 7:30pm we will be having a Mild Crawl around Huddersfield Town Centre. We will meet at the Star, Folly Hall, Huddersfield, HD1 3PJ (map),  and then move on to the Rat & Ratchet, Grove, Sportsman & Kings Head. How many milds can we find?

Beer Festivals

There are several beer festivals coming up in the local area in the next couple of weeks.

  • Thu 10th – Sun 13th Mar, Shepherd’s Boy, Dewsbury
  • Fri 11th – Sun 13 th Mar, Gledholt Male Voice Choir, Heritage Mills, Oakes, Huddersfield
  • Wed 16th – Sun 20th, Star, Folly Hall, Huddersfield
  • Fri 18th – Sat 19th Mar, Denby Dale Lions, Pie Hall, Denby Dale

Pubs

The Slubbers Arms at Hillhouse has reopened under new management earlier this year, selling Taylors & guest beers.

On Fri 18th Mar, at the King’s Head, Huddersfield, as part of Huddersfield Literature Festival, Sir Les Patterson-Prescott will be hosting an open mic night! Tickets required. More details on the Diary page.

Breweries

  • Magic Rock Brewing in Oakes, Huddersfield will begin brewing in March 2011. The intention is to brew modern beers, inspired in part by US craft breweries.
  • The Two Roses Brewery in Barnsley will be operational from March 2011.  The brewery plans to brew a number of regular beers complemented during the year with seasonal beers.

March Branch Meeting

Beer Festivals

The Star Summer Beer Festival at the Star, Folly Hall, HD1 3PJ (map) starts on Wednesday 14th July and runs until Sunday 18th. 80 beers, all cellar cooled & served on handpump, and sure to have the usual eclectic range of beers.

On Saturday 17th July there is the  Bobtown Beer Bash at Robberttown Community Centre, WF15 7LS . The festival runs from 12 noon – 10pm , with 20 Real Ales, Festival Specials, Perry & Cider. More info here .

Finally, on Thursday 15th July at 8pm we will be holding a Beer Festival Sub Committee Meeting at the Sportsman, Huddersfield, HD1 5AY (map).  We need more people on the Sub Committee this year, so if you are a CAMRA member and feel that you could help us out, then please come along and make yourself known to us.

Two local beer festivals this week

The Star at Folly Hall, HD1 3PJ (map) will be holding their Spring Festival this week, held in the marquee as usual. The festival is open Wed 24th March, Thur 25th  5pm till 11pm and Fri 26th – Sun 28th 12noon till 11pm. Over 60 beers on, all cellar cooled and hand pulled.

The  Rose & Crown (Nook), Holmfirth, HD9 2DN (map) will be holding their Spring Beer Festival between Thu 25th – Sun 28th March.
