Branch Meeting & Presentation at the Sportsman, Huddersfield on Mon 18th Mar

On Monday 18th Mar 2024, at 20:00 , we will be holding our Branch Meeting & Presentation at the Sportsman, Huddersfield.

As well as our monthly meeting, we will be presenting the Cider Pub of the Year award.

Also, the Spring issue of Ale Talk will be available.

Branch Meeting at the Head of Steam, Huddersfield on Mon 18th Sep

On Monday 18th September 2023, at 20;00, we will be holding our Branch Meeting at the Head of Steam, Huddersfield.

The Autumn edition of Ale Talk will be ready for distribution. You can download a PDF copy of the  Autumn Ale Talk here.

Voting will also take place for the Autumn Pub of the Season.

We would prefer that you attend the meeting, but Branch Members can vote in the Members’ Area.

Beer Festivals

There are several beer festivals coming up in the local area in the next couple of weeks.

  • Thu 10th – Sun 13th Mar, Shepherd’s Boy, Dewsbury
  • Fri 11th – Sun 13 th Mar, Gledholt Male Voice Choir, Heritage Mills, Oakes, Huddersfield
  • Wed 16th – Sun 20th, Star, Folly Hall, Huddersfield
  • Fri 18th – Sat 19th Mar, Denby Dale Lions, Pie Hall, Denby Dale

Pubs

The Slubbers Arms at Hillhouse has reopened under new management earlier this year, selling Taylors & guest beers.

On Fri 18th Mar, at the King’s Head, Huddersfield, as part of Huddersfield Literature Festival, Sir Les Patterson-Prescott will be hosting an open mic night! Tickets required. More details on the Diary page.

Breweries

  • Magic Rock Brewing in Oakes, Huddersfield will begin brewing in March 2011. The intention is to brew modern beers, inspired in part by US craft breweries.
  • The Two Roses Brewery in Barnsley will be operational from March 2011.  The brewery plans to brew a number of regular beers complemented during the year with seasonal beers.

Aletalk

The Spring issue of Aletalk should be appearing in pubs shortly. For the first time, it will be available in PDF format for download. To get it , see the Aletalk page.

March Branch Meeting

Aletalk

Aletalk is a quarterly magazine produced by the Huddersfield and Heavy Woollen Branches of CAMRA. It covers beer & pub related matters on both a local & national level, and has a circulation of 3000 copies.

Following recent changes, a new editorial team has now been established, and the Autumn 2010 issue will go to press during September.

Aletalk Meeting on Tuesday 17th August 2010

There will be a further meeting to discuss the production of the Autumn issue of AleTalk.

It will be held in the upstairs room at the Rat & Ratchet, Huddersfield, HD1 3EB (map) at 8pm on Tuesday 17th August.

All welcome. Bring any articles that you have for inclusion along with you.
