Beer Festivals

The Star Summer Beer Festival at the Star, Folly Hall, HD1 3PJ (map) starts on Wednesday 14th July and runs until Sunday 18th. 80 beers, all cellar cooled & served on handpump, and sure to have the usual eclectic range of beers.

On Saturday 17th July there is the  Bobtown Beer Bash at Robberttown Community Centre, WF15 7LS . The festival runs from 12 noon – 10pm , with 20 Real Ales, Festival Specials, Perry & Cider. More info here .

Finally, on Thursday 15th July at 8pm we will be holding a Beer Festival Sub Committee Meeting at the Sportsman, Huddersfield, HD1 5AY (map).  We need more people on the Sub Committee this year, so if you are a CAMRA member and feel that you could help us out, then please come along and make yourself known to us.

Rail Ale Trail

On Saturday 10th July 2010, we will be having a Rail Ale Trail Social. We will assemble at Huddersfield station to catch the 11:31 stopping train to Leeds, alighting at Batley. The rest of the itinerary is as follows:

Branch Meeting and Two Beer Festivals

Our next Branch Meeting will be held at the Carniceria, Holmfirth, HD9 2DN (map) on Monday 21st June 2010 at 8pm.

There is a Beer Festival at the Navigation, Mirfield starting on Thursday 17th June and running until Sunday 20th June.

Also, from Friday 25th June to Sat 26th June, there will be a Beer Festival at Marsh Liberal Club, Marsh, Huddersfield, HD3 4AL (map). Opening hours are Fri 25th June 4:30–11;  Sat 26th June 12-11. Admission is free, there will be 15 real ales and there is a free half for CAMRA members!

Two socials and a beer festival

On Sun 6th Jun at 3pm, there will be a Branch Social going to the official opening of the Yeaton Cask, Kirkheaton, HD5 0HW (map). Formerly The Junction, the pub has reopened as a real ale house with good reviews. Catch the 13:25 262 Arriva bus from Huddersfield bus station.

On Mon 7th Jun at 8pm, there will be  Social at Rose & Crown, Thurstonland, HD4 6XU (map). Hopefully the usual range of Brass Monkey & guest beers will be available. Catch the 19:55 341 (Huddersfield Bus Company) from Huddersfield Bus Station. The return journey involves walking back down into Brockholes and catching bus from there.

The 2nd World Sup Beer Festival at the West Riding, Dewsbury, WF13 1HF (map) has already started. It runs from Thu 3rd – Sun 6th Jun. More details here.

Dewsbury Beer Festival Thu 20 – Sat 22 May 2010

Next week sees the first CAMRA beer festival to be held in Dewsbury for many years – the 2010 Dewsbury & Heavy Woollen  Real Ale, Food & Music Festival. This is a special festival to commemorate the 1st Kirklees CAMRA Beer Exhibition at Dewsbury Town Hall in 1975. As well as offering 70 of the best Yorkshire Real Ales in the region and 10 ciders, it will also be showcasing and promoting the best in local food and entertainment.

Tickets for all festival sessions can be reserved in advance:

Thu 20 May 4-6 (CAMRA members only); 6-10:30;

Fri 21 May 12-5; 5-10:30;

Sat 22 May 11-12 (Girls Guide to Beer session); 12-5; 5-10:30;

There will be a Photo and Archive Exhibition from the 1975 Festival and a reunion of people who attended the original Beer Exhibition. The reunion will be on Friday 21st May between 6:00 and 8:00.
