Michael Robinson (Chairman of Huddersfield CAMRA) presents the award to Sam Smith (landlady of the Sportsman) surrounded by CAMRA members, regulars & bar staff.
The Sportsman has been voted Huddersfield CAMRA’s Winter Pub of the Season, and not long after being awarded Cask Marque accreditation too. Since it opened last year, enthusiastic landlady Sam Smith has built up a successful real ale trade with the accent on local and regionally produced beers. The pub is LocAle accredited and attracts many drinkers eager to sample the delights of Mallinson’s, Empire, Golcar, Anglo Dutch, Riverhead and many more. A mild is always available. Just three minutes from the station, and on the Real Ale Rail Trail, it also provides good home-cooked food at modest prices in ample portions.
