Huddersfield Oktoberfest 2012 Beers of the Festival – corrected

Here are the results of the Beers of the Festival Competition held at Huddersfield Oktoberfest 2012. Apologies, previously Mrs Bloke was missing as joint winner of Beer of the Festival.

Mild: Black Lightning, Owenshaw Mill, Sowerby Bridge

Bitter: Quasar, HDM/Mallinsons, Huddersfield

Strong: Yakima IPA, Great Heck, Great Heck, N Yorks

Porter/Stout: Burnout Stout, Brass Castle, Pocklington, E Yorks

Speciality: HDM 4 CC IPA, HDM Brewing Co, Huddersfield

David Charlesworth (‘Charlie’) Award for Overall Beer of the Festival: Joint winners:
HDM 4 CC IPA, HDM Brewing Co, Huddersfield & Mrs Bloke, Mallinson, Huddersfield

Branch Meeting at Berry Brow Liberal Club on Mon 17th Sep and more

On Monday 17th Sept 2012 at 8pm, we will be holding our Branch Meeting at Berry Brow Liberal Club, Parkgate, Berry Brow, HD4 7NF (map).

Catch the 19:40 314 First Bus from Huddersfield Bus Station.

We hope to see you there.

Between Fri 14th – Sun 16th Sept, there is the Crickfest Beer Festival at the Cricketers, 48 Haigh Lane, Deanhouse, Holmfirth, HD9 3UG (map). There will be 20 beers, and the festival is open 12 noon – 11pm all days.

Finally, Huddersfield Oktoberfest Beer & Cider Festival takes place in early October at the Sikh Leisure Centre. It is open to the public Thu 4th – Sat 6th Oct, but we also need help from CAMRA members setting up Tue 2nd & Wed 3rd and taking down Sun 7th. Our next Beer Festival Sub Committee Meeting will be held at the Slubbers Arms, Hillhouse, HD1 6HW (map) at 8pm on Thursday 31st of May 2012.

Cider Pub of the Year Presentation to the Rat & Ratchet on Thursday 3rd May

On Thursday 3rd May 2012 at 8pm we will be making the Cider Pub of the Year Presentation to the Rat & Ratchet, Chapel Hill, Huddersfield, HD1 3EB (map).

This is the first day of the Rat’s Annual Mild & Cider Festival, which runs from Thu 3rd to Sun 6th May.
